Audeze Mobius Reviews Compendium

Compendium updated May 1st, 2024.

Gamers who want to buy a $400 headphone exclusively for gaming are probably in the minority. Chances are that most gamers want a headphone that works for gaming, watching movies, listening to music, and even traveling. If that describes you, then you'll want to check out the Audeze Mobius, the headphone that straddles the divide between audiophiles and gamers.

We’ve compiled reviews from across the web for your reference. What you’ll find here are the TLDR versions of the full reviews (which you can access with the provided links). We’ll continue updating this compendium as reviews come in.

From Joshua Valour's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on November 2nd, 2018:

"Sound quality, in general, is definitely passable, and if you're coming from lower-end headphone it's going to be a great upgrade, but possibly a step down if you're coming from higher-end headphones."

"Overall, I'm gonna say this headphone has really great, very unique, and fun features, but I do question its practicable applications."

"If you're hoping that this is going to make you a significantly better gamer...to me, it just doesn't do that."

"To me, this fits in the eh category."

From DMS’ review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on January 13th, 2019:

"Overall, this is a very capable platform to build on."

"So, when it really comes down to it, I don't see myself owning Mobius, but I do see it greatly improving over time with software updates. And if you're into 3D sound...then this is defnitely a very strong contender."

From Max Settings' review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on November 28th, 2019:

"This is a really good package, in my opinion. YOu have a headphone with user-tweakable sound profiles. You have gaming [features].... It sounds really good wired up in the hi-res mode. And you don't need a DAC and an Amp. And you can take it on the go."

From PC World's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on July 19th, 2019:

"4/5 stars."

"So what is the reason? The sound quality, plain and simple. The Audeze Mobius does sound damn good, and I’ve enjoyed gaming on it, watching movies and TV with it, and (most of all) listening to music. There are few gaming headsets that measure up, and while I might opt for a headset that better balances audio quality with quality-of-life features—true wireless performance, a better battery, better construction—I still think the Mobius deserves a nod for its fidelity alone.

"Of course, a Mobius that rectifies even a few of the relatively simple issues I encountered would do even better at justifying its high sticker price. For a first time outing though? It’s impressive, and I’m curious to see what Audeze does from here."

From PC Mag's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on November 19th, 2018:

"4.5/5 Excellent."

"The Audeze Mobius is a gaming headset with remarkable head-tracking 3D sound technology and performance that will satisfy audiophiles."

From Headfonics' review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on April 14th, 2019:

 "8.2/10"

"So the Mobius is probably one of the better wired $399 headphones on the market and also gives you easily the best sounding wireless sound quality out there. Don’t bother with Bose, unless you want noise cancellation. The Mobius is weak in that area, but strong everywhere else. It is comfortable, good looking, and jam-packed with features galore.

"What bugs me is the lack of directional accuracy. But, then again, I can’t really complain because Razer, Logitech, Astro, etc have a headphone with great omnidirectional accuracy. And the Mobius still does a better job than they do in that department.

"For single players and casual gaming, this is really the only “gaming” branded audiophile choice on the market. You’ll be happy. Very happy, if you are an audiophile and also want to game."

From Techradar's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on May 16th, 2019:

"The Audeze Mobius may be prohibitively expensive for many gamers, but that doesn’t mean it’s not absolutely worth the price of entry. The excellent sound quality and comfort easily make this one of the best gaming headsets we’ve ever used.

"For:

  • Fantastic sound quality
  • 3D audio is neat
  • Comfortable

"Against:

  • Expensive
  • Bog-standard mic"

From Headfonia’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on October 31st, 2019:

"4.1/5"

"Unless you’ve only read the introduction, you already know my opinion regarding the Audeze Mobius. It’s a fantastic piece of hardware, that doubles up as a great headphone. It embeds all of what Audeze did during the last years, and mixed it into one of the most thrilling devices I’ve ever tried.

"The only drawbacks are the fact that you’ll have to use the USB entry to get the best of it, and then there’s the sub-par isolation. But apart from that, it easily ticks all the right boxes and goes directly in my recommendation list. Try it, love it, keep it. That’s what I did."

From Forbes’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on April 20th, 2019:

"At the end of the day, gamers and content creators will probably be happiest with these headphones — and if they enjoy listening to music as well, they’ll get a big added bonus thanks to the performance of those planar magnetic drivers."

From Mashable’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on December 6th, 2018:

"4.25/5"

"The Good:

  • Immersive 7.1-channel soundstage
  • Top-quality audio in and out of games
  • Comfy fit
  • Solidly built
  • Slick design

"The Bad:

  • Surround sound only works via USB
  • On-headset controls are a bit much
  • 3D audio head tracking feels like a gimmick
  • Pricey for a gaming headset

"The Bottom Line:

"The Audeze Mobius delivers an unbeatable listening experience for PC gaming, but you have to be wired in, and it doesn't have full console support.

From IGN’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on November 29th, 2018:

"If you can get past the price the Audeze Mobius are superb gaming headphones. And really, even for $399 you’re getting a phenomenal product. Sound quality is some of the best you’ll find in gaming headphones and the Mobius are incredibly versatile thanks to the multitude of connection options. The Audeze Mobius are more than just gaming headphones to keep at your desk. They’re everything headphones to bring with you into the world too."

From Trusted Reviews’ review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on March 22nd, 2019:

"4.5/5"

"The Audeze Mobius is hands-down the best sound gaming headset we've ever tested. The custom drivers and head tracking tech create one of the most immersive gaming and movie watching experiences we've ever enjoyed. Issues with its wireless connectivity on Windows stop it from being a shut up and take my money purchase, however.

"Pros

  • Great audio quality
  • The most immersive gaming experience on the market
  • Comfortable fit

"Cons

  • Mic issues when used wirelessly on Windows"

From PC Gamer's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on August 6th, 2020:

"77/100"

"A great-sounding wireless gaming headset, but frustrating design choices and poor battery life weaken the offering.

"For:

  • Excellent sound
  • Great Headtracking
  • Bluetooth
  • Comfy

"Against:

  • Expensive
  • Poor battery life
  • Irrationally short USB-C cable
  • No surround sound on Bluetooth"

From SoundGuys' review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on February 3rd, 201:

"8/10"

"Positives:

  • Great Audio.
  • Many connectivity options.
  • 7.1 stereo, and bluetooth modes are all great.
  • 3D audio works really well.

"Negatives:

  • Price.
  • Memory foam takes a little time to become comfortable."

From RTINGS’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on October 12th, 2018:

"7.7/10"

"Good for gaming. The Audeze Mobius have a good sound, a great mic, and a wired design with low latency. They're also wireless via Bluetooth but will not work with your consoles that way and have a bit too much latency with this connection option. On the upside, they will have mic and audio support when used wired via the analog 1/8" TRRS cable and partial support on the PS4 with their USB-C cable."

From AV Forums' review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on September 4th, 2020:

"9/10"

"Pros

  • Superb audio quality
  • Immersive gaming experience
  • Excellent surround sound
  • Good bass level
  • Very comfortable to wear
  • Planar Magnetic Drivers

"Cons

  • 3D Audio may not be for everyone
  • USB cable too short"

"For the gamer, especially the PC Gamer, this is in our opinion probably the best gaming headset on the market today. For the audiophile, there are probably better (and significantly more expensive) options available, but if you are heavily into gaming and enjoy high-quality audio playback, the Mobius from Audeze comes very highly recommended. So much so, when this review sample is returned, this reviewer will have to buy a pair!"

From Android Guys’ review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on October 11th, 2020:

"The Audeze Mobius is one of the most expensive gaming headsets out there carrying a price tag of $399.00. For most people, that is going to be a dealbreaker, and I can’t say I blame you. However, if you can afford it, the Mobius is a fantastic gaming headset and pair of headphones for enjoying music or movies.

"The planar magnetic drivers offer a premium sound quality ensuring this headset can do a lot more than just be used for gaming or watching movies.

"However, if you’re using it specifically for gaming, be aware that you’ll only get 5.1/7.1 surround sound if using the USB connection. When using it with consoles you’ll be limited to stereo audio, and at that point, the Mobius loses a lot of its advantage over other high-end headphones."

From Playstation Lifestyle’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on May 20th, 2019:

"Audeze Mobius is a gaming headset that finally focuses on what’s important: audio. By forgoing the usual flashy nature of most gaming headsets, it also sets itself up as a great all-purposes audio device that can comfortably be taken out of the living room or office, but also feels right at home as a gaming audio solution. It’s got a high price point, but this is a company that knows and excels in audio. When sound is important to you, it’s worth it to invest in the best, and Audeze Mobius can count itself among that pantheon. Don’t just listen to your audio. Be present in it."

From Headphone Check’s review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on February 1st, 2019:

"4.38/5"

"The Mobius has clean tones, with a deep and tight bass, open and airy trebles and a balanced, warm and harmonious midrange. In addition to this, it responds quickly to transients and delivers an incredibly precise and wide panorama. At this juncture, I’d like to point out the good dynamics and generally solid balanced tuning. In the bass range, the headphones don’t sound too thick, despite the astonishingly low bass reproduction. In the treble, they avoid harshness. As a result, listening pleasure is assured, meaning these headphones score highly for such a price point. These are recommended for all genres, from orchestral recordings to jazz, rock and club tracks alike. The EQ presets keep the music balanced, but tend to find their calling more when it comes to gaming."

From Home Theater Reviews’ review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on April 10th, 2019:

"The Audeze Mobius is one of the finest Bluetooth headphones on the market right now. It's right in the thick of it, price-wise, for premium wireless headphones, and bests most other products in terms of quality of sound and soundstage reproduction. If you are looking for a very fun pair of headphones to listen to both music and movies and are intrigued by the wireless planar magnetic combination, don't hesitate to try out the Mobius."

From Hardcore Gamer's review of the Audeze Mobius Gaming Headset, first published on July 12th, 2019:

"The Audeze Mobius introduces a new level of immersion to gaming with 3D sound technology and bridges the gap between high-end gaming headset and audiophile equipment. Whether you want to view this as an entry level audiophile headset or a top-of-the-line premium gaming headset, you’re looking a piece of equipment that delivers unparalleled gaming audio quality. While the sound quality is amazing, there are some points of consideration listed above. The 3D audio is really the main point to consider. It’s a cool feature that increases immersion along with some tactical applications in online multiplayer games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, but it’s only worth paying the premium for a nifty feature if it’s something you intend to regularly use."
