A multi-driver approach for balanced sound

The Meteor brings together a 13mm dynamic driver, dual balanced armatures, and four miniature planar drivers—all coordinated by Moondrop’s XTM complex frequency-crossover architecture—to create a full-range in-ear monitor. Its total harmonic distortion stays below 0.6% at 94dB for clarity across the board. From the oversized bass driver to the custom mid drivers and four planar treble units, the Meteor merges power, detail, and phase consistency in a unique IEM that’s ready for daily listening.

A multi-driver approach with XTM architecture

The Meteor is built around a seven-driver tribrid configuration. One dynamic driver handles lower frequencies while two balanced armatures cover the midrange. Four miniature planar drivers focus on upper registers. These elements are linked by Moondrop’s XTM complex crossover design, which ties everything together for fully cohesive sound.

Oversized bass dynamic driver with a meteorite twist

There’s a 0.51in (13mm) dynamic driver tucked into the Meteor’s acoustic chamber—an unusually large size for an IEM. This driver uses an N52 neodymium magnet and composite dome diaphragm to produce thumping bass. On the rear side of its housing sits an actual meteorite panel, which acts as a vibration damper. Since each meteorite slice is distinct, you may see slight variations that make your set unique.

Four miniature planar drivers for refined treble

Four newly-designed miniature planar drivers are used to reproduce high frequencies more smoothly than comparable balanced armatures. These tiny planar units achieve wide bandwidth and clear detail—while maintaining lower distortion than typical armature or electrostatic approaches.

Balanced armatures for precise mids

Two custom-designed balanced armature drivers take care of the midrange. They’re positioned and tuned to add fullness and clarity, giving vocals and instruments a balanced presence. The resulting mids feel open, yet still rooted in the overall sonic blend.

Acoustic metamaterial filter for clarity

Moondrop’s passive acoustic notch filter is housed within a 3D-printed channel, combined with metal components for precise damping. By reducing peaks around 4.7 kHz and 7.2 kHz, this filter helps smooth out potentially harsh spots in the dynamic driver’s response.

Consistent full-band phase

Moondrop’s approach to driver alignment puts phase consistency at the top of the priority list. Complex testing goes into ensuring that the Meteor’s seven drivers remain locked together in phase, which helps maintain clarity from bass to treble.
