AUDALYTIC DR70 R-2R DAC

The AUDALYTIC DR70 is a compact desktop R-2R DAC built around a proprietary discrete resistor ladder architecture, native 1-bit DSD conversion, and FPGA-based digital processing. Unlike the network-enabled DR70n, the DR70 focuses on direct digital audio sources through USB, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth inputs, making it an ideal choice for listeners who do not require LAN streaming or onboard network bridge functions. With balanced and single-ended outputs, femtosecond clocking, and support for PCM up to 768kHz and native DSD512, the DR70 delivers high-resolution digital conversion in a streamlined desktop format.

Discrete R-2R conversion

The DR70 uses a proprietary discrete R-2R ladder DAC module that converts digital audio through precision resistor networks rather than conventional delta-sigma conversion. This architecture performs 25-bit complementary conversion and is engineered to preserve low-level detail, tonal density, and natural timbre while maintaining excellent linearity across the frequency range.

Native 1-bit DSD decoding

A dedicated 1-bit DSD D/A conversion stage supports native DSD64 through DSD512 playback. In Direct DSD mode, DSD signals bypass PCM conversion and are routed directly to the DAC's switching array, preserving the original pulse-density modulation data path.

FPGA-controlled digital processing

A custom FPGA manages clock control, digital shaping, DoP demodulation, and PCM/DSD switching functions. This dedicated processing platform allows precise control over digital audio handling while supporting multiple filter modes, including NOS operation and DSD passthrough.

Femto-grade clock architecture

The integrated CK01 femtosecond clock module provides highly precise timing throughout the conversion process. By minimizing timing errors and jitter, the clock system supports stable digital processing and accurate signal reconstruction.

Dedicated power regulation

Independent power supply groups provide separate voltage regulation for critical circuit sections. This design reduces interference between digital and analog stages while supporting consistent operating conditions throughout the DAC.

Balanced and single-ended connectivity

The DR70 provides fixed-level balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs simultaneously. A low-impedance analog output stage helps maintain signal integrity when connected to preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, active speakers, or headphone amplifiers.

USB, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth inputs

Digital connectivity includes USB-C, dual coaxial inputs, optical input, and Bluetooth 5.0. Bluetooth supports LDAC, AAC, SBC, and aptX codecs, including LDAC transmission up to 24-bit/96kHz. USB operation supports Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.

Compact desktop design

Measuring just 8.7 in × 6.7 in × 2.0 in (220 × 170 × 50 mm), the DR70 fits easily into desktop audio systems while providing a full aluminum chassis, front-panel touch controls, adjustable display brightness, remote-control support, and AC or external DC power compatibility.

DR70 vs DR70n

The DR70 and DR70n share the same core DAC architecture, analog output stage, FPGA processing, femtosecond clocking, Bluetooth support, and audio performance specifications. The primary difference is network functionality. The DR70n adds a LAN connection, TF card slot, dedicated streaming hardware, and integrated bridge services including Roon Bridge, AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA, HQPlayer NAA, and browser-based management. The DR70 omits these network features and operates as a dedicated DAC for USB, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth sources.
