HIFIMAN HE1000 WiFi Streaming Media Planar Magnetic Headphones
HIFIMAN HE1000 WiFi planar streaming headphone
The HIFIMAN HE1000 WiFi combines a reference-grade planar magnetic headphone with integrated wireless streaming hardware. A built-in HYMALAYA Mini DAC, Class-A headphone amplifier, and Wi-Fi streaming system allow the headphone to receive high-resolution music directly from services such as Roon, Qobuz, Spotify, TIDAL, and Apple Music. The design pairs nanometer-thickness planar drivers with Stealth Magnet technology and a lightweight composite headband. Multiple operating modes — Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, and USB audio — allow the headphone to function as a self-contained wireless listening system or as a wired planar headphone connected to a computer or mobile device.
Wi-Fi streaming audio built directly into the headphone
The HE1000 WiFi includes an onboard streaming platform that connects directly to a wireless network and receives high-bitrate audio from supported music services. Wi-Fi offers significantly more bandwidth than Bluetooth, which allows the headphone to transmit lossless and high-resolution audio formats with fewer compression limitations.
Integrated HYMALAYA Mini DAC and Class-A amplifier
Inside the earcups is HIFIMAN’s self-developed HYMALAYA Mini DAC paired with a dedicated Class-A headphone amplifier. This internal signal chain performs digital conversion and amplification directly inside the headphone housing. The DAC section supports PCM up to 768kHz and native DSD512, while the analog section provides low distortion performance with THD+N as low as 0.0055% at 1kHz. Housing the DAC and amplifier close to the drivers reduces signal path length and allows the headphone to operate as a complete playback device.
Nanometer-thickness planar magnetic diaphragm
The planar magnetic driver uses a diaphragm with a thickness measured in nanometers (less than one millionth of a meter). Extremely low mass allows the diaphragm to respond quickly to signal changes, which helps improve transient response and micro-detail retrieval. The result is a driver capable of reproducing fast musical passages, subtle dynamic shifts, and complex harmonic content while maintaining low distortion across the frequency spectrum.
Stealth magnet planar driver structure
The driver assembly uses HIFIMAN’s Stealth Magnet design paired with an enhanced magnet array. This configuration minimizes airflow obstruction in front of the diaphragm so sound waves move through the magnet structure with less turbulence. Reducing acoustic interference allows the planar driver to maintain clarity across the frequency range while preserving the natural openness associated with planar magnetic headphones.
Multiple listening modes for different devices
The headphone supports three playback modes. Wi-Fi streaming connects directly to network audio services. Bluetooth mode supports common codecs including LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC for compatibility with phones and tablets. USB audio mode allows the headphone to function as an external DAC and amplifier when connected to a computer through its USB-C port. Switching between modes allows the headphone to move easily between desktop listening, mobile use, and network streaming.
Composite headband with reduced weight
The second-generation composite headband reduces weight by approximately 0.7–1.1 ounces (20–30 g). Rotating hinge joints allow the earcups to adjust to the shape of the listener’s head while distributing pressure evenly across the headband. The design maintains the large earcup geometry required for planar drivers while keeping the overall structure balanced for extended listening.
Simple onboard controls
The earcup includes a USB-C port for charging and wired audio, along with physical controls for power, playback functions, and volume adjustment. The hardware interface allows the headphone to be operated directly without relying on a companion application. Controls remain accessible while wearing the headphone and support both wireless and wired playback modes.
