Fully-balanced headphone amplifier

The VMV P2 MKII is a fully-balanced desktop headphone amplifier and preamplifier engineered for demanding headphones, sensitive IEMs, and high-performance two-channel systems. Its 99-piece parallel op-amp architecture, ultra-low distortion PLFC+ circuit, and integrated GaN power supply deliver exceptional current capability, low output impedance, and remarkable signal purity. 99-piece parallel amplification architecture

The P2 MKII utilizes 99 low-noise operational amplifiers in a parallel configuration to improve current delivery and reduce output impedance. This design allows the amplifier to maintain authority with both high-impedance headphones and current-hungry planar magnetic designs while preserving low-noise performance for sensitive in-ear monitors. Balanced output reaches up to 14W per channel at 16Ω and 8W per channel at 32Ω.

Fully-balanced PLFC+ circuit design

A true differential signal path extends from input to output, minimizing common-mode noise and maintaining channel separation throughout the amplification stage. VMV’s four-channel Precision Linear Feedback Circuit (PLFC+) achieves THD+N as low as 0.00006% with a signal-to-noise ratio up to 135dB. 

Integrated GaN power supply

The built-in Gallium Nitride switching power supply combines high efficiency with low-noise operation. Compared to traditional switching designs, the GaN implementation reduces switching losses and ripple interference while supplying substantial current reserves during dynamic passages. This contributes to a quieter background and improved control across a wide range of headphones.

Three gain levels for headphones and IEMs

The P2 MKII includes selectable Low, Mid, and High gain modes for improved compatibility with different headphones and earphones. Low gain is specifically optimized for high-sensitivity IEMs, helping reduce hiss and improve usable volume range. A custom high-precision volume potentiometer further minimizes channel imbalance at low listening levels.

Desktop preamplifier functionality

In addition to headphone amplification, the P2 MKII operates as a dedicated preamplifier with both RCA and XLR pre-outs. This allows direct connection to power amplifiers or active speakers for integration into a compact desktop or full-size stereo system. Internally, the amplifier uses low-temperature-drift resistors to maintain consistent performance over long listening sessions and changing operating temperatures.

Protection systems and firmware support

Built-in DC, overload, over-voltage, and thermal protection circuits help safeguard connected headphones and the amplifier itself. A delayed startup relay design suppresses power-on transients for pop-free operation. The rear USB service port supports future firmware updates and system optimization.
