4-pin XLR headphone impedance adapter

The FiiO IMP XLR-4 is a power amplifier impedance adapter designed to connect compatible headphones directly to a home HiFi power amplifier. An internal voltage divider circuit attenuates excess amplifier output while helping reduce background noise, with balanced 4.4 mm and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs, gold-plated copper binding posts, and an aluminum alloy enclosure.

Drive headphones from a power amplifier

The IMP XLR-4 provides a dedicated interface between compatible power amplifiers and headphones. It is designed for headphones with impedances from 16 to 300 ohms and supports compatible amplifiers with power output below 300W. This gives high-impedance and low-sensitivity headphones access to the driving capability of a speaker amplifier while managing the amplifier’s higher output level.

Internal voltage divider circuit

An internal voltage-dividing circuit attenuates excess power before it reaches your headphones. The circuit also helps reduce amplifier background noise, which can be particularly useful with lower-impedance or higher-sensitivity headphones. FiiO recommends lowering the amplifier level before listening, then gradually increasing it to a comfortable volume.

Balanced 4.4 mm and XLR-4 outputs

Two balanced headphone connections are built directly into the IMP XLR-4: a 4.4 mm output and a 4-pin XLR output. Supporting both common balanced connector formats reduces the need for an additional headphone adapter in compatible systems.

Gold-plated copper binding posts

Four 4 mm banana jack inputs connect the IMP XLR-4 to the amplifier’s speaker outputs. The copper binding posts are gold plated to provide stable electrical contact while helping resist moisture, corrosion, and oxidation through repeated use.

Aluminum alloy enclosure

The high-density aluminum alloy housing provides physical shielding against electromagnetic interference while helping dissipate heat during operation. A compact footprint makes the IMP XLR-4 straightforward to position alongside a desktop or home HiFi amplifier.
