FiiO QX13 Portable DAC/Amp
USB DAC/Amp with 900mW balanced output
The FiiO QX13 is a portable DAC and headphone amplifier with an ESS ES9027SPRO DAC, six Texas Instruments op-amps, and balanced output rated at 900mW per channel into 32Ω in desktop mode. A 1.99-inch color display puts playback information and settings in view, while 10-band parametric EQ lets you adjust the sound to your headphones.
Eight-channel conversion with precise power regulation
The ESS ES9027SPRO uses a fully differential architecture with eight DAC channels operating in parallel. Paired ES9312 low-noise regulators provide power to the conversion stage, helping preserve low-level detail. Dual femtosecond crystal oscillators supply timing for different sampling rates to reduce clock jitter.
Six op-amps for amplification and current delivery
Four TI INA1620 chips and two OPA1692 op-amps handle analog amplification. Each INA1620 integrates eight precision-matched thin-film resistors, an EMI filter, and a dual-channel audio op-amp. This arrangement helps reduce channel crosstalk and provides the current needed to drive headphones across different loads.
Desktop mode adds power when you need it
Desktop mode raises balanced output to 900mW per channel into 32Ω, compared with 605mW per channel in non-desktop mode. A dedicated side USB-C power port lets you connect an external supply, while the front USB-C port handles audio data and power. The QX13 assesses the connected USB source’s power capabilities and adjusts amplifier gain and output accordingly.
High-resolution playback through XMOS
The 16-core XMOS XU316 USB processor supports PCM playback up to 768kHz/32-bit, native DSD512, and full MQA decoding. Its USB audio processing works with dual low-phase-noise crystal oscillators to handle different sampling rates accurately.
Ten-band EQ to tailor your headphones
Use the Android FiiO Control app or FiiO’s web-based controls to adjust the 10-band parametric equalizer. Create custom profiles, start with built-in presets, or explore community tunings to modify your headphones’ frequency response. With PEQ enabled, supported playback is limited to PCM 192kHz/24-bit.
A color display with customizable themes
The 1.99-inch IPS display shows playback format, volume, and operating status. A 32-bit processor powers multiple interface themes for portrait and landscape viewing. Third-generation Corning high-strength glass covers the screen for added scratch resistance, and selectable 60-step or 120-step volume scales let you choose how finely you adjust listening levels.
Two body materials for portable listening
The black carbon fiber version uses up to 21 stacked layers and weighs approximately 1.19 ounces (33.7g). Carbon fiber covers five surfaces, giving the body its distinctive woven appearance. The titanium-colored aluminum alloy version features a laser-engraved back panel and weighs approximately 1.38 ounces (39.2g). An included leather case helps protect either version during daily use.
Separate boards with layered shielding
The digital and analog circuits occupy separate boards with a shielding cover between them. Insulation, electromagnetic interference sheets, and thermally conductive silicone help isolate the circuits and move heat away from internal components. This layered construction supports sustained high-power operation.
Headphone and digital connections
Connect headphones through the 3.5mm single-ended or 4.4mm balanced output. The 3.5mm connection also supports coaxial S/PDIF output for feeding an external DAC. UAC 1.0 mode adds compatibility with devices including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
Magnetic mounting for your phone
The supplied leather case contains dual curved magnets for attachment to a compatible iPhone. An included magnetic ring provides an attachment option for Android devices. The supplied USB-C cable uses six strands of monocrystalline copper and two strands of silver-plated monocrystalline copper. Compatibility with ESTICK mini power banks provides another external power option for portable use.
Controls for everyday listening
Adjust gain, digital filters, channel balance, and display brightness through the QX13’s controls. Temperature regulation, DC output regulation, and a maximum volume limit provide additional control over operation and listening levels.
