R2R conversion plus desktop streaming

The FiiO R7 R2R combines a network music player, DAC, headphone amplifier, digital transport, and USB sound card in one desktop component. Its fully differential complementary 24-bit R2R DAC uses precision resistor arrays for conversion, with a sound that's balanced and warm. Android 13, a Snapdragon 680 processor, and 8GB of RAM give you access to streaming apps, while headphone outputs and analog and digital connections bring your music sources together.

Precision resistor arrays for digital conversion

FiiO’s in-house R2R DAC uses four channels containing 192 precision thin-film resistors. These resistors have 0.1% tolerance and low temperature drift, helping maintain consistent resistance values as operating temperatures change. The fully differential complementary architecture handles digital-to-analog conversion through matched resistor arrays.

Android 13 OS

A customized, open Android 13 operating system lets you use streaming services and third-party applications directly on the R7 R2R. The octa-core Snapdragon 680 processor works with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage to handle app navigation and large music files, with capacity for future software updates.

A portrait touchscreen for easy control

The 5.5-inch (14cm) HD portrait display gives streaming apps a familiar layout and keeps playback controls within reach. Use the touchscreen to browse your library or the physical knobs for hands-on adjustment. A redesigned themed interface adds another way to view and control your music.

Five gain levels for headphone matching

Five selectable gain modes let you adjust amplification for low-impedance IEMs and more demanding full-size headphones. Front-panel connections include a 6.35mm headphone output, a 4.4mm balanced headphone output, and a 4-pin XLR balanced headphone output, accommodating several common cable terminations.

High-resolution USB playback

A dedicated XMOS XU316 chip supports PCM decoding up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512. Connect a computer, tablet, or phone and select USB DAC mode to route audio through the R7 R2R’s conversion and amplification stages. It also serves as an external sound card for music and video playback.

Sample rate preservation made easy

FiiO’s DAPS audio purification system combines a high-capacity FPGA with two custom femtosecond crystal oscillators for digital audio processing and clock management. System-wide playback without sample-rate conversion preserves the source sampling rate, while ALL TO DSD provides an alternative processing option. Coaxial output jitter is specified as low as 71.5ps for use with an external DAC.

Adjust the sound with system-wide EQ

System-wide 10-band parametric EQ lets you tailor the response to your headphones and listening preferences. AUTO EQ provides one-click matching to available tuning profiles. You can also adjust individual bands manually for more specific changes.

Analog components throughout the signal path

The fully differential audio architecture includes four OPA1656 FET-input Burr-Brown audio op-amps and two TI OPA1612 op-amps. Four Rubycon audio-grade electrolytic capacitors, four Rubycon film capacitors, and twelve high-capacity capacitors support the analog circuitry and power-supply filtering.

AC power with an external DC option

The built-in 30W switching power supply uses a choke and high-voltage capacitors to help suppress mains interference. A ±12V internal power architecture supplies the audio circuitry, with separate power supplies for the digital and analog sections. An external 12V/3A DC input also accommodates compatible power supplies, including the FiiO PL50.

Connections for headphones and speakers

Rear RCA and balanced XLR line outputs connect the R7 R2R to powered speakers or an external amplifier. Choose variable-volume preamp output or fixed-level line output, and enable the front headphone outputs independently or alongside the variable rear outputs. RCA line input and coaxial and optical inputs accommodate additional sources, while coaxial and optical outputs let the R7 R2R serve as a digital transport.

Nine ways to play

Switch between Android, Pure Music, AirPlay, USB DAC, Roon Ready, Bluetooth receiver, line input, coaxial decoding, and optical decoding modes. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports wireless networking, while a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port provides a wired connection. The FIIO CONTROL app adds remote operation and screen-mirroring controls.
