A decoder built for the real world

The SMSL D200 is a desktop DAC and preamp that blends reference-grade measurements with features you’ll want to use every day. Handling decoding is the ROHM BD34352EKV DAC chip, supported by a custom CK-03 clock circuit and an ultra-low distortion balanced preamp stage. Add in Bluetooth playback with lyrics display, a laminated glass display, external clock input, and MQA/MQA-CD decoding, and you’ve got a digital hub that can handle it all. 

ROHM DAC Chip

The D200 uses the ROHM BD34352EKV, a chip chosen for its high linearity and natural presentation. Paired with a fully-balanced preamp stage made of dual NJU72315 chips, distortion is kept to 0.00019% and SINAD reaches 115.9dB. 

Clocking done right

SMSL’s self-developed CK-03 clock circuit is built to reduce jitter at the source. For those who want to take it further, the D200 accepts external clock input—standard 10MHz or atomic clock—locking your system to an ultra-precise timing reference.

Bluetooth that doesn’t cut corners

Wireless playback is handled by Qualcomm’s latest Bluetooth chip with LDAC and aptX HD support. You can control play, pause, and track selection with the included remote, while the D200 displays track and lyrics info on its screen. 

A screen that lasts

The 1.9-inch fully-laminated tempered glass display improves visibility and longevity compared to standard panels. 

Built to connect

USB, coaxial, and optical inputs handle PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. Coaxial and optical also support DoP DSD64, while USB supports DSD512 native. Outputs include RCA and XLR, with output levels of 2.5Vrms and 5Vrms respectively.

Designed to work with the PA200 and PL200

The D200 pairs seamlessly with SMSL’s PL200 CD transport and PA200 amplifier. In this trio, the PL200 reads, the D200 decodes, and the PA200 drives, all locked in sync through an external clock. 

Flexible sound controls

Inside the menu you’ll find selectable PCM and DSD filters, sound color modes, and output modes for fixed DAC or variable preamp. It’s all controlled by a front-panel knob or the included remote, giving you one-click access to the features you’ll use most.
