Flagship ROHM DAC System

The VMV D3R is a desktop DAC and fully balanced analog preamplifier built around dual ROHM BD34302EKV chips, a 10MHz OCXO clock, and a discrete power architecture with dual toroidal transformers. It supports PCM up to 768kHz, DSD512, and full MQA decoding across USB, optical, coaxial, and AES inputs. With a color display, intuitive controls, and broad connectivity including Bluetooth with LDAC, it fits into both modern streaming systems and traditional hi-fi chains without friction.

Dual DAC architecture

The D3R uses two ROHM BD34302EKV DAC chips operating independently for each channel. This dual-mono structure improves channel separation and reduces noise, resulting in stronger dynamics and a wider soundstage. 

Precision clock system

A built-in 10MHz OCXO clock maintains a stable temperature to minimize drift and timing errors. With ±3ppb stability, it reduces jitter and phase noise (two factors that directly affect clarity and imaging). The result is more precise placement of instruments and a more stable stereo image.

Independent power design

Two custom toroidal transformers power the digital and analog sections separately. This separation reduces interference from digital processing, keeping the analog signal path cleaner. The benefit is a quieter background and more consistent performance across different inputs.

Fully balanced signal path

From DAC output through volume control to XLR outputs, the entire circuit maintains a balanced topology. This helps cancel common-mode noise and preserves signal integrity. The D3R also functions as a preamplifier with analog volume control, allowing direct connection to a power amplifier.

High-resolution decoding

Powered by the XMOS XU-316 processor, the D3R supports 32-bit depth, PCM up to 768kHz, and native DSD512. MQA and MQA-CD decoding are available across USB, optical, coaxial, and AES inputs. I²S supports native DSD, while coaxial and optical inputs support DoP.

Wireless audio support

A Qualcomm Bluetooth chipset enables wireless playback with support for LDAC, aptX, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC. LDAC allows higher bitrate transmission—up to 96kHz/24-bit—making it suitable for casual listening without switching cables.

Intelligent sound presets

The built-in “BEST SET” function automatically configures filter behavior, sampling strategies, and gain levels. This reduces the need to manually adjust multiple parameters while still optimizing playback based on the incoming signal.

Display and interface

A 3.49-inch tempered glass display presents playback data clearly, including track information during Bluetooth playback. The updated interface is designed for quick navigation using the front-panel knob, with key functions accessible without digging through menus.

Wide connectivity

The D3R includes USB-B, USB-C, optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, and I²S inputs, along with RCA and XLR outputs. A dedicated clock input allows integration with external master clocks. This range supports both digital sources and traditional audio components in one system.
