Japanese electrostatic earspeaker

The STAX SR-X1 is an entry-level electrostatic earspeaker that brings the circular designs of the SR-1 and SR-X to a modern headphone design. Newly designed drivers deliver a flat, neutral presentation, while an updated metal frame, sheepskin ear pads, and a detachable OFC cable support all-day listening. 

A newly designed circular driver

The SR-X1 uses a medium-sized, push-pull electrostatic driver with high-precision etched electrodes. Designed for flat, neutral reproduction, it places the driver directly inside the housing and minimizes seams between components to support accurate, focused sound.

An open housing shaped for sound

The rear-open enclosure uses slits with varying thickness and smooth curves to help sound waves pass through with less obstruction. This design reduces distortion while maintaining an open path behind the driver.

A more rigid frame with less resonance

Metal components strengthen the SR-X1’s frame and help suppress unwanted resonance. The redesigned headband assembly integrates the arc and head pad into a lightweight structure built for extended listening.

Sheepskin pads with memory foam

Soft, genuine sheepskin covers the surfaces that touch your skin. New memory foam inside the pads improves their fit, helping distribute contact around your ears during longer listening sessions.

A detachable cable with low capacitance

The included 8.2-foot (2.5m) cable uses oxygen-free copper conductors arranged in a flat, six-core configuration. Spacing the conductors in this wide format lowers capacitance between them. A detachable connection also allows the cable to be replaced.
