VMV A1 PRO Gallium Nitride Power Amp

Sale price$495.00 USD

A new kind of power amp

The VMV A1 PRO is a compact high-power amplifier that uses gallium nitride (GaN) transistors—an alternative to silicon that switches faster, runs cooler, and wastes less energy. That means less distortion, tighter transients, and a more compact form factor that doesn’t need a giant heatsink to keep its cool. Whether you’re driving full-size stereo speakers or bi-amping in mono mode, the A1 PRO delivers ultra-clean power.

Gallium nitride inside

Gallium nitride (GaN) is one of the biggest improvements to power amplification in decades. Unlike traditional silicon transistors, GaN devices can switch at much higher frequencies—up to 1MHz in the case of the A1 PRO. That ultra-fast switching drastically reduces "dead time," the micro-moments when both output transistors are briefly off. Less dead time means less distortion, especially in high-frequency content where timing errors tend to smear detail and sap clarity.

Mono mode for extra muscle

Want more power? Switch it into mono mode. With a pair of A1 PROs, you can quadruple the power output and take on more demanding speaker loads. Mono mode gives you up to 400W into 4Ω—enough headroom to power floorstanding speakers with ease.

Precise volume control

The PGA2311 is a digitally-controlled analog volume chip from Texas Instruments that offers precise control and ultra-low distortion. If you’ve ever dealt with volume drift, channel imbalance, or noise at low levels, you’ll appreciate what it brings to the table.

Safeguards built in

The A1 PRO comes with full-protection circuitry against overheating, overcurrent, and more. You probably won’t trigger them, but it’s good peace of mind, especially if you're running a high-efficiency rig in mono mode.

Clean power from a dedicated supply

The power supply is an audio-grade, high-power switching unit built to match the amp’s dynamic demands. It stays quiet under load and uses just 0.5W in standby, so you can leave it in your rack without worrying about power draw.

Balanced and unbalanced inputs

XLR and RCA inputs let you run the A1 PRO in stereo or mono BTL mode, and gold-plated binding posts keep your speaker connections secure. Channel separation hits 75dB—great performance for a unit in this class.

Benchmark-grade performance

With a dynamic range up to 111dB and SNR of 109dB, the A1 PRO punches far above what you might expect from a compact Class D amp. And with a THD+N of just 0.003%, it stays clean at low volumes and doesn’t smear transients when things get loud.
