YULONG DA2 All-in-one Personal Audio Center Pre-amp / Head amp/ DAC
Note: This is a pre-order with an expected ship date of March 15th.
Desktop DAC + preamp + headphone amplifier
The Yulong DA2 is a desktop all-in-one that combines network streaming, digital-to-analog conversion, preamplification, and Class-A headphone amplification in a single chassis. It's built around Yulong’s 8th-generation JIC digital processing system, an AKM-based DAC architecture, a fully balanced Class-A analog stage, and a relay-controlled R2R volume system. The DA2 is designed for listeners who want one component to anchor both headphone and speaker-based listening.
Integrated network streaming architecture
The DA2 handles network streaming internally using Yulong’s proprietary streaming module, with audio data clocked directly from dual Accusilicon AS338 oscillators. Digital audio is transmitted via Slave I²S referenced to the master clock, reducing timing errors that can occur with conventional USB or software-driven interfaces. Support includes AirPlay 2, DLNA, Squeezelite, Roon Bridge, HQPlayer NAA, and Daphile, allowing the DA2 to sit comfortably in a modern networked audio system.
FPGA-based digital signal control
At the core of the DA2 is Yulong’s 8th-generation Jitter and Interface Control system, implemented through a tightly-integrated FPGA and CPU platform running a streamlined Linux kernel. This architecture manages network streaming, USB audio, digital inputs, clocking, and system control within a unified signal path.
AKM DAC with Class-A output stage
The DA2 uses an AK4191 and AK4499EX DAC combination, paired with a high-current Class-A buffer stage. Power is supplied by a low-noise analog regulation circuit designed for stable current delivery under dynamic load. This approach supports low distortion and wide dynamic range while maintaining a natural tonal balance that works well with both headphones and active speakers.
Lossless R2R relay volume control
Volume adjustment is handled by a four-channel, 100-step relay-controlled R2R resistor network. Each step is switched using self-latching relays, eliminating the tracking errors and signal degradation associated with potentiometers. Because the relays do not require continuous power to hold their state, electrical noise is minimized throughout the entire volume range.
Fully balanced Class-A headphone and preamp stage
The headphone amplifier and preamplifier are built from sixteen discrete medium-power transistors operating in constant-current Class-A. Output power reaches up to 6 watts into balanced loads, with THD+N as low as 0.001 percent and output impedance below 1 ohm. High- and low-impedance modes allow the DA2 to drive in-ear monitors and demanding over-ear headphones with equal confidence.
Flexible inputs and outputs
The DA2 supports network streaming, USB audio, AES, coaxial, optical, and balanced XLR analog inputs. Outputs include balanced XLR and RCA for DAC or preamp use, along with 4-pin XLR, 4.4 mm balanced, and 6.35 mm single-ended headphone connections. Input and output routing is handled internally, making it easy to move between headphone listening and speaker playback.
Display and system monitoring
A front-panel IPS display provides selectable views including VU meters, spectrum analysis, sampling rate, and system status. The display can dim or turn off automatically, and the DA2 continuously monitors temperature, current, and power conditions to maintain stable operation during extended listening sessions.
Linear power supply with upgrade option
The internal power supply uses a 50W Noratel toroidal transformer with independently regulated rails for digital and analog sections. A fully discrete current-source design allows transient current delivery up to 15 amps. For systems that demand additional headroom, the DA2 supports an optional external linear power supply with multiple regulated outputs.
