Built around a coaxial dual dynamic driver architecture, the FG3 combines a 50mm composite diaphragm driver with a 16mm titanium-plated dynamic driver, driven by an integrated dual-core DSP, dedicated DAC, and headphone amplifier. Virtual 7.1 surround sound, browser-based audio customization, and a detachable ENC microphone complement the acoustic design, while driver-free USB connectivity provides compatibility across PCs, consoles, smartphones, and laptops.

Coaxial dual-driver acoustic design

The FG3 uses a coaxial dual dynamic driver configuration that places a 50mm driver and a 16mm driver on a shared acoustic axis, creating a single-point sound source that improves phase consistency and directional accuracy. This arrangement helps maintain stable spatial imaging, allowing positional cues to remain more coherent during gameplay.

An electronic two-way crossover assigns bass and midrange reproduction to the 50mm composite diaphragm driver while the 16mm titanium-plated driver handles high frequencies. Separating frequency ranges in this way extends overall frequency response and allows subtle details such as footsteps, environmental effects, and teammate communication to remain distinct alongside larger cinematic effects.

Integrated DSP, DAC, and headphone amplifier

A built-in dual-core DSP processes gaming audio with low latency and fast response while supporting multiple sound processing modes. The integrated DAC accepts audio streams up to 24-bit/192kHz, preserving high-resolution playback throughout the digital signal chain.

A dedicated headphone amplifier delivers up to 80mW of output power, providing sufficient headroom for consistent playback across quiet ambient sounds, dialogue, and dynamic game effects. The combined DSP, DAC, and amplifier architecture keeps audio processing contained within the headset rather than relying on the source device.

Virtual 7.1 surround processing

The FG3 incorporates a custom virtual 7.1 surround sound algorithm that expands conventional stereo signals into a three-dimensional sound field. Positional effects including overhead movement, environmental ambience, and directional audio cues are reproduced with greater spatial separation to improve environmental awareness during gameplay.

Virtual 7.1 processing is available when using Cinema mode and Action (ACT) mode, while other gaming presets retain stereo playback tuned for their intended applications.

Communication and browser-based customization

The detachable microphone uses an Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) algorithm to reduce background sounds such as keyboard and mouse noise while prioritizing speech. Hardware-based sidetone monitoring allows users to hear their own voice in real time, with adjustable monitoring levels available through FIIO Control WEB.

FIIO Control WEB provides browser-based configuration without requiring software installation or dedicated drivers. Users can create and save custom 10-band EQ profiles, switch between gaming and entertainment presets, and adjust microphone monitoring directly through a compatible web browser.

Gaming and entertainment modes

The FG3 includes preset sound profiles for FPS, MOBA, Action (ACT), Rhythm (MUG), Cinema, and Music playback. Each profile applies audio tuning designed for its intended application, allowing users to change sound characteristics with a single click. The FPS, MOBA, and MUG presets operate without enabling virtual 7.1 surround processing.

An integrated inline controller provides immediate access to Gaming, Cinema, and Music modes, microphone mute, playback volume adjustment, and instant audio muting without leaving gameplay.

Designed for everyday use across multiple platforms

The USB interface supports driver-free plug-and-play operation with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, compatible smartphones, and laptops. Automatic switching between UAC 1.0 and UAC 2.0 operating modes provides compatibility with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch systems.

A foldable frame improves portability for travel, work, school, and tournaments while reducing storage space when not in use. Closed-back earcups reduce external noise and sound leakage, breathable woven mesh fabric helps improve comfort during extended sessions, and memory foam ear cushions conform to a variety of head shapes. A HiFi-grade stainless steel headband provides long-term structural durability, while replaceable ear pads simplify maintenance over time.
