HIFIMAN just unveiled their brand-new planar magnetic closed-back headphone: the HIFIMAN AUDIVINA. They retail for $1,999.

This isn’t a typical closed-back headphone. Inside each cup is a resonance chamber inspired by the acoustical architecture of the Beyreuth Festival Theater in Germany. This theater is famous for its multi-stage attenuation that allows the listener to hear a wide, detailed soundstage in spite of the small, enclosed space of the theater. HIFIMAN has applied this same concept to the AUDIVINA, engineering the cups so that sound takes a circuitous route through the chamber, creating a wide soundstage beyond what is typically associated with closed-back headphones. 

In addition to this feature are HIFIMAN staples like Stealth Magnets and the NEO Supernano diaphragm. 

Like other HIFIMAN headphones, the AUDIVINA headphones use a specially shaped magnet that allows sound waves to flow through unimpeded. By doing so, this design element works to greatly reduce wave diffraction turbulence and significantly decrease distortion, resulting in an unparalleled listening experience.

The performance of a headphone's diaphragm is crucial for retrieving details accurately. Due to the need to vibrate up to 20,000 times per second, most diaphragms made of plastic or cardboard struggle to reproduce realistic details. However, the HIFIMAN AUDIVINA sets itself apart by utilizing a diaphragm less than two micrometers thick, which enables it to deliver unparalleled detail and lifelike imaging that outshines other headphone models.

The AUDIVINA also features an ergonomic headphone constructed of high-precision hand-polished CNC metal. 

Finally, the earpads are manufactured with an eco-friendly, silky leatherette material, maximizing sonics and comfort for hours-long listening sessions.
